Dog Licenses – It’s the Law in Pennsylvania
All dogs three months of age or older must have a current
year dog license. All dogs and cats over
3 months of age must be vaccinated against rabies.
Dog license application is obviously available at the
courthouse and at various locations through-out the county.

There is a reduced fee for person with a disability or
senior citizen

If you are applying for a license that requires the dog
owner to be a senior citizen, 65 or older, or a person with disability, you
cannot get the license at a satellite location but must provide proof of age or
disability to the County Treasurer.
Some people choose to purchase a lifetime license for their
dog. Avid microchip
Computer chip size of grain of rice, inserted between the
shoulder blades
Generally $30 - $40 to microchip and 42.00 to register
To do this, you must have a permanent identification
verification form from usual a vet, etc. , indicating tattoo # or
microchip # Microchip has various
companies associated with vet offices and you are expected to register your
microchip number with the company. For identification if the dog is lost.
